Paul Gunther, age 37, of Minneapolis passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2020.
Paul William Gunther was born at Fairview St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis on December 5th 1982 to William and Cynthia Gunther.
Paul grew up in New Hope, MN and attended St. Raphael Catholic Church where he received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Paul went to New Hope Elementary and Plymouth Middle School, later graduating from Totino Grace High School in 2001 and earning an AA degree at Hennepin Technical School in Culinary Arts.
Growing up Paul was a natural athlete and enjoyed all sports. He loved fishing and the outdoors, especially the BWCA and he was planning to go back this summer. He was a skilled pool player and has played competitively.
He worked in the service industry for 18 years. He had a passion for fine dining and good food.
He worked as a cook, sous chef, server and bartender over the years. He especially loved introducing people to new culinary experiences.
Paul will be remembered for his love of family, his enthusiasm for life and willingness to help anyone; moments of playfulness and rough housing with his young cousins and nieces and nephews are also special memories.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herb and Myrtle Gunther and Rex and Lucille Grimley and his uncle David Grimley.
Survived by parents, Bill and Cindy Gunther of New Hope; sister, Sarah of Palm Springs CA; brother, Mike (Hillary) of Minneapolis; brother, Tom of Valparaiso IN; uncle to Gabby, Vincent, Deacon and Marin; uncles and aunts, Dick and Myrlette Giddings of Ramsey,MN, Kathy and John Pumroy of Austin, MN, Mike and Debbie LaMothe of Crystal MN and Jon and Diane Grimley of River Falls, WI; many cousins and friends.
Private family services have been held.
