Paul Christopher Aurit
Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Tuesday, May 31 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 200 Hamel Road in Hamel, MN. Interment at St. Anne’s Church Cemetery with reception to follow. Memorials received will go to Providence Academy in Plymouth, MN.
Paul was born December 12, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD and died at home in Maple Grove, MN in the company of family on May 24, 2022 at age 78. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD and St. Mary’s University in Winona, MN. He married Elaine Coyne in 1970. Paul, with his brother Joe and brother-in-law Thomas Coyne, owned their own construction company building houses in Sioux Falls early in his career and delivered packages for UPS, where he retired after 25 years of dedicated service. He was a charter member of St. Michael’s Parish in Sioux Falls for 30 years and a member of the Church of St. Anne in Hamel, MN for 13 years. He was an avid Lionel toy train collector and toy dealer. Paul was devoted to his family and loved being with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents George and Pearl (Javers) Aurit, his brother George, sisters Agnes Wrich and Mary Coyne, and brothers-in law Mitchell Wrich, Roger Tetrick, and David Burns. Survived by Elaine, his wife of 51 years; children: Gary Aurit and Rebecca (Casey) Welch; grandchildren: Jayce Welch, Beatrix Aurit, and Kyra Welch; siblings: Shirley Miller, Jeanette Johnson, Audrey Tetrick, Dale (Joyce) Aurit, Lynn Burns, Connie (Chet) Swanson, Joseph Aurit, and brother-in law Thomas Coyne; twenty-nine nieces and nephews and best friend since grade school Loren (Rosemary) Mose.
The family would like to thank the team at North Memorial Hospice for all of their care, help, and support.
