Patrick was born May 14, 1992 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois to Richard & Lynette (Reuter) Urkewich, who later divorced. Patrick was raised by Keith & Lynette (Reuter) Rohde. Patrick & his sister Maria were adopted by Keith Rohde in 2002.
Patrick had a passion to help others. He volunteered with The Car Clinic since he was a young teenager. He started by checking tire pressure and worked his way up to be a meticulous mechanic with brake jobs becoming his specialty. He also loved to be the “kitchen boss” when he volunteered at the Inner City Church of Minneapolis (ICCM) making meals for the homeless to be able to attend a church service away from the shelters. Patrick continued to volunteer at both The Car Clinic and ICCM as his health allowed. He loved to ride his motorcycle every chance he could. He even put off different treatments so he could ride until he couldn’t any longer. He loved dogs and giving them nicknames. His favorites were Roofus “Roofus the Poopus” and Ranger “Danger Dogo”. He ended his working career as a warehouse associate at Caribou Coffee.
Patrick leaves behind his parents Keith & Lynette Rohde and sister Maria Rohde, grandparents Julius Reuter, Dorothy Rohde & Dolores Urkewich. Aunts and uncles Geralyn (Dan) McGrath, Brenda (George) Kilburg, Jane (Dwaine) Rickertsen, Barb (Tim) Burken, Jolene (Glen) Trenkamp, Gerianne (Glen) Sprank, Gary (Julie) Reuter, Roger (Jill) Reuter, Mary Kay (Jim) Sorensen, Anita (Bob) Urban, Ardell (Jill) Reuter, Darwin (Angie) Reuter, Gayln (Jackie) Reuter, Frank (Traci) Reuter, Janine (Brian) Kueter, Craig (Chawna) Reuter, Elizabeth Rohde, Linda Sowinski, James Rohde, Allan (Cheryl) Rohde Jr, John (Jan) Rohde, April Rohde, Sue Rohde, Donna (Charlie) Gagliano, Paul (Joni) Rohde, Christopher Rohde, Mark Rohde, Victoria (Edward) Haynes, & Karen (James) Stark, 44 Reuter first cousins (their 20 spouses & 36 children) and 15 Rohde first cousins (1 spouse & 1 child) as well a host of other family and friends.
Patrick is preceded in death by his grandmother Mary (Kilburg) Reuter, grandfathers Allan Rohde Sr & Joseph Urkewich, father Richard Urkewich, uncles Duane Eggers, Tom Rohde, Dale Rohde, Nick Sertich, Bob Sowinski, first cousins Natasha Urkewich & Jonathan Reuter, & first cousin’s daughter Leala Nelson.
Patrick had a sense of humor like none other. Anyone who knew Patrick was impacted by his quick wit and sarcasm. The nurses of Abbott Northwestern Hospital Surgical Oncology, Radiation & Infusion Centers unfortunately had to learn to deal with his crazy sense of humor & naughty pranks. A special thank you to all of the doctors, staff and nurses from Abbott Northwest Hospital, Givens Brain Tumor Center, and Allina Hospice.
In leu of flowers, donations can be made to The Car Clinic at www.thecarclinic.org or PO Box 565, Osseo, MN 55369 - Patrick’s favorite non-profit.
