Patricia McGinty
March 6, 1929 - Oct. 31, 2021
Patricia McGinty, 92, has been reunited at last with her husband, Phillip, and her parents, Leo and Regina Buschette. She passed away Oct. 31 surrounded by her sons and daughters-in-law.
Pat was born March 6, 1929, and grew up on a farm in Renville with her younger brother, Butch.
Her fearless, forward personality started shining early on: After graduating from Renville High School in 1947, she and several girlfriends moved to Minneapolis Business College — a major accomplishment at the time.
She was working as a secretary when Phil McGinty walked into the office one day. The couple married Sept. 1, 1951, and had three sons: Mike, Paul and Jeffrey.
Their small yellow house in St. Louis Park — with its well-tended garden in the back — would become the center of many family holidays with their cherished grandchildren.
Following the death of her husband in 1990, Pat kept a full social calendar with family and friends of all ages. She had a special fondness for her friends from garden club, Holy Family Catholic Church and Good Shepard Church.
Thousands of school children will also remember her as “Mrs. McGinty,” the head school cook at Holy Family and Park Valley schools, where she worked well into her 70s.
Pat is survived by sons Mike (Vicki), Paul (Sue) and Jeffrey (Sheri); grandchildren Tiffany (Andy) Berenberg, Natalie (Mike) Zirbel, Kim (Lucas) Munson, Ali (Dan) Delaney, Justin (Eiko) McGinty, Staci (Nate) Heichert, Kate (Nick) Hurm, Ashley McGinty and Carly McGinty, as well as 10 great-grandchildren, brother Butch (Pat) Buschette; nieces and nephew Mary, Patrick and Laura; and many dear friends.
Until we meet again, Grandma. We love you.
