Norma Jane Werner
Norma was born on 10/31/30 in Cornlea, NE to Frank and Mary Brandl. They lived on a farm where she helped with many of the outside chores. She graduated from Humphrey High school in 1947. She married David Werner on 2/23/49 after he returned from the service. They moved to Minnesota and started a family. They had 2 children, Gregg and Pamela. Norma was a stay-at-home mom and was involved in various church activites and selling Sarah Coventry jewelry.
In 1964, David and Norma purchased a Dairy Queen Brazier franchise in Brooklyn Park, which they operated for 23 years before retiring to travel and enjoy life. Norma was always eager to find the next adventure. They traveled to many places around the world with International Dairy Queen and on many trips on their own. Norma often talked about seeing Pope John Paul in Canada and then at the Vatican in Rome and going on a pilgrimage to Fatima as her favorite trips. She served as a Trustee at the Church of St Raphael, was on the St Raphael School board, and involved in various church activities for many years. She helped David with many Kiwanis events in the community also.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, David, son, Gregg, daughter-in-law Gretchen, and siblings, Leona Zuerlein, Viola Weiser, Lawrence Brandl, Ervin Brandl, Victor Brandl and Merle Brandl. Norma is survived by daughter, Pam (Glen) Kothrade, Kathi Werner, grandchildren, Michelle (Amy) Werner, Michael Werner and Garrett Kothrade; great-grandchildren, Simi and Rowan; sister, Darlene Becker.
Mass of Christian burial at 10am on Friday, April 26 at The Church of St Raphael, 7301 Bass Lk Rd, Crystal, with visitation 1 hour before Mass. Luncheon reception to follow the Mass at the church. Private Entombment at Gethsemane Mausoleum.
