Nery (Correa-Diaz) Kasanezky, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the young age of 89.
Nery was born in Valparaiso, Chile on June 29, 1931, the second daughter to Julio and Alida Correa. An exemplar in human kindness to her three children, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and countless family and friends, Nery volunteered well into her late 80’s at North Ridge Care Center, the nursing home she worked as a nurse for over 35 years. She lived for nothing more than to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling to over 50 countries with them in her later years and never once missing a birthday party or an opportunity to spend one on one time where she could. A lover of books, flowers, animals, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy! and modern technology, she thrived on exercising her brain and proving to anybody that even though her body may be aging, her mind was not. “We had no doubt she could pack a church but the outpouring of stories on how much she impacted the lives of others, even in the smallest ways, is proving otherwise”.
Nery is survived by her children Tina Kerner, George (Cindy) Kasanezky and Allison (Randy) Olsen and preceded in death by her parents, husband (George Kasanezky), and her sister (Martha Correa-Diaz de Bavestrello).
A private, immediate family only, service to remember Nery will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 4 th at the Plymouth Covenant Church. A Celebration of Life (to include dancing and Costco cookies, per her request) will be held at a future date once her many extended family and friends can safely celebrate all she brought to this world.
