Nathan Mederic Darval died from traumatic injuries sustained after a rock-climbing incident in Taylor's Falls, MN. Nathan was a gentle soul. He was kind and loving. He was always there to listen and lend a helping hand. He was fearless, a true adventurer. An avid outdoorsman whose life's passions were rock climbing, hiking, skiing, canoeing/kayaking, fishing...and really just about anything you could do outside! Just a year ago, he suffered the loss of his sister, Megan Darval, and now we say goodbye to one of the most heartwarming people to ever walk this earth. Nathan suffered from mental illness, like countless others all over the world. At times, he suffered in silence. If nothing else, we wish for his death and his sister's death to help raise awareness that "it's ok to not be ok" and for others to find comfort in speaking up and speaking out about mental health. We deeply mourn the loss of our dear son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, partner, and friend. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Roger Gnerer, Bud and Bernice Darval, Uncle Robby Gnerer, and his dear sister Megan Darval. He will forever be in the hearts of his mother Brenda; stepfather Chris Grindatti; father Dewey; brother Dustin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Nathan’s life will be held 4-9 pm Monday, Sept. 27 with service starting at 5pm at Gale Woods Farm, 7210 County Road 110 West, Minnetrista. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers/cards, please consider a donation. Visit: https://everloved.com/life-of/nathan-darval/donate/?flow=201
Any money donated in Nathan's memory will go towards funeral expenses. Any additional proceeds will be donated to The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and The Minnesota Climbers Association (MCA). As Nathan was both an avid rock climber and someone that suffered from mental illness.
