Michael James Murry, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devout Catholic, passed away peacefully at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by his family and friends.
Born in Delavan, Minnesota in 1951, Mike was the son of Bill and Maryce Murry. He grew up in a close-knit community where he developed a deep sense of family values and a strong commitment to his Catholic faith. Michael married Laurel (nee Keyes), and together they celebrated almost 50 years of marriage.
Mike and Laurel were blessed with three children, Patrick, Carolyn and Greg, who brought immense joy and pride to their lives. He instilled a love of travel, the importance of teamwork and the value of an education in his children.
An adoring grandfather, Michael found tremendous happiness in the company of his 10 grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, enthusiastically attending countless baseball, softball, and basketball games, swim meets, plays, and recitals, always cheering them on with an infectious enthusiasm that endeared him to players and parents alike.
Mike's dedication to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life. He was an active member of The Church of the Sacred Heart, where he served as a lector and volunteered for countless initiatives over the years. He was also a member of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. His faith encouraged him to support anyone with anything at anytime.
Michael will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Laurel; his children, Patrick (Jennifer), Carolyn Harmeyer (Christian), and Greg (Katie); his ten grandchildren; his siblings, Chuck (Sara), Tim (Connie), Rich (Dana), Phil (Debbie) and Joan Wesely (Don), extended family members; and many friends. He is preceded in death by sister, Judith Hauer. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-11a.m. on July 9th, 2024, followed by the Rite of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Sacred Heart in Robbinsdale, Minnesota and entombment at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Sacred Heart Catholic School or Benilde-St. Margaret’s Catholic School in recognition of Michael's lifelong commitment to Catholic education.
