Michael J. Brennan Sr.
April 11, 1937 – August 24, 2024
Michael Joseph Brennan Sr., a devout Catholic, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 87 on August 24th, 2024.
Born on April 11, 1937, in New York, New York, to Anne and Michael Brennan. He was married to the love of his life, Kathleen, for 63 wonderful years. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and affection. Michael's legacy will be remembered through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who carry forward his values and love of life.
A proud Marine, Michael's life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his faith and family. He was an avid world traveler, enjoyed boating, and was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Twins. His love for God and for spending time with family was evident in all he did. Michael never missed a party, loved playing bar bingo, and always enjoyed sharing a Guinness with family and friends.
Michael’s warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew him. He will be remembered with deep affection and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life. Michael had an extraordinary joy in living, and he always had a kind word and a smile for everyone he met.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, his parents Michael and Anne Brennan, his sisters, Sister Anne Brennan CSJ and Eileen Danaher, his brother James "Jimmy" Brennan, his brothers-in-law Thomas Hennesey, Kevin Danaher, and Rudolf "Rudy" Roitz, and sister-in-law, Joanne Stoehr.
Michael is survived by his children, Michael Brennan Jr., Mary Coursey (Chuck), Susan Meagher (Brian), Tracey George (Rob); his grandchildren, Kelsey Anderson (Brian), Patrick Vinge (Jess), Emily Vinge (Ben Woodworth), Amy Qualle (Derek), Charlie Coursey, Annie Coursey, Rosie Coursey, Patrick Meagher, Grant Meagher, Clare Coursey, Brennan George, Ned Coursey, Katherine George, and John Meagher; and his great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Olivia Anderson; sisters, Maureen Hennessey and Kay Brennan; brother, John Brennan (Patsy); former sister-in-law, Elaine Brennan; his many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will include a Visitation on Tuesday, August 27th, from 5-7 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Home, 39th Avenue North and West Broadway in Robbinsdale. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 28th, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Sacred Heart, in Robbinsdale, 41st Avenue North and Hubbard Avenue North, Robbinsdale.
In remembrance of life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Tubman, Minnesota’s largest provider of domestic violence shelter service, and Mary’s Place, Minneapolis, MN.
