Michael N. Gregerson passed away on Saturday, September, 4, 2021 from pancreatic cancer. He was 73 years old. Michael was born on November 16, 1947 in Quincy, Illinois.
Mike attended Rochester Community and Technical College for two years before attending the University of Minnesota, majoring in Aeronautical Engineering. He re-enrolled at the University of Minnesota several years later, earning his Masters in Public Health. During this time, Mike also served in the United States Army Reserves. Mike was an avid fan of the Golden Gophers, and was always thrilled when the football team and men’s basketball team had winning seasons.
Following graduation from his Master’s degree, Mike found a career at Northern States Power (NSP), now Xcel Energy. Over the course of 30 years, Mike would hold many positions before retiring in 2004. After retiring from Xcel, Mike found great pleasure in energy consulting with Great Plains Institute, a position he held until full retirement in 2018.
Mike married the love of his life, Patti Stieler, in 1981. Together, they had three children, Aaron, David and Jane. He found immense joy in his children and family. He loved to go on camping trips with the family, visit the family cabin and ride the jet ski, work in the yard, or simply relax with his family around him. He was active in local community organizations, Boy Scouts, their church, and loved giving back whenever he could. Mike could often be found enjoying the sounds of his family around him while relaxing with a good book.
Mike was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Above all else, he put his family first and went out of his way to help his children with whatever challenge was in front of them. Ever a handyman, Mike was always ready to lend a hand with home improvement projects for his children or just tooling around the house.
Michael was preceded in death by his Uncle Alfred and his in-laws Bill and Harriette Stieler. He is survived by his wife, Patti; their three children, Aaron (Kacey), David (Caroline), and Jane (Ian); his sisters Susan and Nancy, brother Kevin, and seven loving grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Hamel, MN on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 10:00 am. A celebration of life event will be held following the funeral at Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista, MN.
