Merle Finsness
Merle A. Finsness died peacefully August 31, 2019 at Augustana Chapel View Care Center in Hopkins, Minnesota.
Merle was born in Minneapolis in 1919 and celebrated 100 years of life on March 24 th this year.
With the exception of living elsewhere during war years, Merle was a lifelong resident of Minnesota and loyal Minnesota sports fan. She married Christen Finsness in 1943 and enjoyed almost fifty years of life with him before he died in 1992.
Merle is survived by son Paul (Marianne) and daughter Kristin, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Barbara, died in 2018.
Merle was a homemaker who also worked at the offices of NWNL, Animal Fair and SuperValu. She was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran and later Zion Lutheran churches.
The family thanks the Park Nicollet hospice staff and Chapel View nursing and support staffs for their care of Merle during her residence there.
Interment Fort Snelling at 2:00 PM.
