Mary Jane Max was born August 3, 1932 to Mike and Barbara Max and raised in Golden Valley, MN. After finishing high school and some training at Minneapolis Vocational school, she went to work as an accounting clerk, eventually for Metro Goldwyn Mayer, downtown Minneapolis, where she met her future husband, Linus. They were married at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Golden Valley on June 30, 1962. In their openness to life, Linus and Mary welcomed six unborn children that preceded them to heaven before they were blessed with their three children Angela, Linus, and Theresa. Over the years, Linus and Mary’s love was multiplied with the gift of 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together before Linus passed away in November, 2017.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother, spending her years serving her family. She taught her children valuable life skills and how to manage household duties well. She was an active, faithful member of the Church, serving in many ways. She especially found joy in sharing the gift of her beautiful voice, singing in choir for many years. Mary’s greatest love was Christ; her greatest gift, the example of her Catholic Christian faith; a close relationship with the Lord, and attending daily mass. She had unwavering trust in God and prayed through trials and losses, ultimately offering praise to Him in her last moments.
Mary passed away June 10, 2018 at age 85. Preceded in death by husband, Linus; parents, Mike and Barbara (Schiel) Max; brothers, Michael, Peter and Johnny Max; sister, Kitty McKinnon.
