Pykonen, Mary Ila

Age 96, formerly of Minnetonka Mills, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2024. Born in River Falls, Wisconsin to Hans & Sarah (Gartland) Hanson. Ila moved with her family to Minneapolis after high school and began working for Cargill where she made many lifelong friends. Shortly after, she met her husband Bob, they raised 2 daughters and were married for 70 years. Ila was an avid reader, enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She had a great sense of style that filled our home with beauty, warmth and love. Preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2020, survived by daughters Angie Pykonen (Jackson Buck), Bonnie Battaglia (Bruce), grandson Jeff. A special thank you to the staff at Jones Harrison and the Park Nicollet Hospice Program for their heartfelt care. There will be a visitation for Ila and a Celebration of Life for both Ila and Bob Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 4-7 PM, with memory sharing 5 PM at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave S., St. Louis Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, or the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
