Mary Odell (Kastner) Ortler

Mary Odell (Kastner) Ortler, age 81 of Plymouth, peacefully passed away surrounded by her daughters on March 31, 2021.

Mary was born in Minneapolis and was a proud graduate of St. Margaret’s Academy. Her career began working for Northern States Power (NSP) and then continued her career at General Mills, where she retired. Mary and Gordy, loving husband of 61 years this month, enjoyed their winter home together in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Mary found joy spending quality time with her loved ones and many friends, especially her precious grandchildren. Her hobbies included traveling, playing tennis, studying and researching her family’s genealogy. She was a proud Irish Catholic woman, consistently spreading her kindness and humor to everyone she encountered. She was an admirable matriarch to her family and will be greatly missed. We were all truly blessed to have had her in our lives.

Mary leaves behind her daughters, Julie (Michael) Palach and Jennifer (Jonathan) Blood; grandchildren Ryan, Kelly, Grace & Nick.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon (died 1/29/21). Parents Grace and Eugene (Larry) Kastner; brother Dennis.

A celebration of Life will be a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, April 9 at 11:00am at the Church of St. Bartholomew, 630 E. Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata.
