Mary M. (Branley) Josephson

Mary M. (Branley) Josephson, age 67 of Minneapolis, passed away on December 18, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Branley: father, Vincent Branley; brother, Pat Branley.

Mary is survived by husband of 42 years Jerry; her 4 children, Patrick (Anne), Ann (Casey) West, Katie (Troy) Ploog and James (Erik Retzer); her 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Sam, Brady, Brynn, Max and Maggie; her brother, John Branley.

Mary was born in Minneapolis on December 4, 1949 and grew up with her two brothers (John and Pat) in South Minneapolis. Mary attended Moorhead State University and earned a degree in Education. Throughout her life she was a teacher and homemaker, and held various positions in Minneapolis schools. She retired last year from her position as a Special Education Assistant at South High School in Minneapolis.

She married Jerry Josephson in July of 1974 and had four children. Known as “Mar and Jer”, they grew up across the street from each other which led to an integrated, loving family that celebrated holidays, birthdays and special events together. She was a lifelong member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Mary was distinctly Irish and was always on the move. She loved spending time with family and friends, volunteering at church and throwing parties. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and caretaker who had a special gift for including others and taking care of those in need, including fellow church members, her students, her friends, and her family. She will be greatly missed by those around her.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday, December 29th, 2016 at the Church of Christ the King, 5029 Zenith Ave S. Visitation Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave S. and at church Thursday one hour before Mass. Int. Ft. Snelling. Memorials preferred to Christ the King Parish.
