Martha E. Skeie, 79, of Corcoran, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024.
Martha had a 44 year career with ADC Telecommunications.
Born Martha Pauly in Minneapolis on August 8th, 1944, Martha lived in Excelsior, Glen Lake and then the family moved to her grandparent's farm in Eden Prairie and lived there until her young teen years. She attended St. Hubert Catholic School in Chanhassen and then after moving to the New Hope area, she graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1962 and was a member of The National Honor Society.
She married Jim Skeie in June of 1969 and later that year, their son Jason was born.
From a very young age, Martha had a great love for animals and she had many when she lived on the farm, including cattle herding German Shepards. From childhood until death, her household was never without at least one dog child with a few cats and hamsters along the way as well.
As the daughter of a Kentuckian, Martha mastered the art of making perfect fried chicken, and her Thanksgiving turkey and dressing were unmatched, agreed upon by any and all who have ever had the pleasure of enjoying that meal at her table.
She and Jim enjoyed traveling together, especially in their RV after retirement. They were even brave enough to take their grandchildren with them, at all ages, most of the time when they went on 2 week trips out west.
Jim and Martha took the grandchildren on many trips to Florida and they enjoyed all the park rides right along with the kids, even the scary roller coasters. A few times, they even let Jason and Jerene tag along to Florida and to the Black Hills.
Many a niece and nephew were cared for in their household, giving Jason pseudo brothers and sisters in his cousins for weeks at a time, sometimes longer. Much generosity with love and care was given in a motherly fashion to all kids who were in Martha’s midst.
Martha was a loving, caring, fun Grandma; a proud mother and mother in law; a devoted and loving wife; a loyal and dedicated sister, sister in law, aunt and a great friend to anyone blessed enough to be called friend and to call her friend.
She is survived by loving husband of 54 years, James; son, Jason (Jerene); grandchildren, Lindsay, Connor, Sadie and Emma; brother, Jim (Mary Kay) Pauly; sister-in-law, Kathy Trueman; other family and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Kenneth Pauly and Kitty Gray Pauly; brother, Bob Pauly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, Feb. 15 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 155 Cty Rd 24, Medina, with visitation one hour prior to Mass.
