Martha was called home to the Lord on March 4th, 2025. She passed away peacefully at the age of 91.
Better known as "Marti," she was born October 25th,1933 to Joseph and Helen Kolodge in Cloquet, Minnesota, where she grew up with four brothers and three sisters. She was united in marriage to Paul D. Schliesman on May 11th, 1957. They made a home in Golden Valley, Minnesota where they raised five children.
Marti was a loving and generous wife, mother, and grandmother who always found time to spend with her family. She rarely missed a grandchild's performance, concert, or sporting event. She found her greatest joy in giving to others, never wanting gifts for herself. Everyone was a friend or family member to Marti. She cherished relationships with friends and neighbors, loved playing bridge and sports of any kind, and never passed up a game of bingo.
Marti was preceded in death by Paul, her husband of 63 years, and is survived and celebrated by her children, Jan (Bob) Franke, Judy (Jeff) Stout, Jay (Kathy) Schliesman, John (Kristin) Schliesman, and David (Sarah) Schliesman. She was a loving Grandmother to 19 and Great Grandmother of 12.
Marti's family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Aurora on France Skyview Community in Edina, Minnesota for the excellent care she received there.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 13th, 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Mary of the Lake, 105 Forestview Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55441.
