July 2, 1919 — December 20, 2020

Martha Estelle Brix

The most extraordinary wife, mother and friend, Martha (aka “Momsie”), went home to heaven on Sunday, December 20, 2020.  She was 101 years old.  With all her love, majesty and dignity, her light shined bright in the world.  Her compassion and understanding always raised the spirits of those around her.  Her kind heart is with us still.  She will be forever loved.

Born Martha Estelle Briere, she was Valedictorian of her North High School graduating class (1936), and starred in her senior class play.  She attended Business College and worked at 1 st National Bank until she caught the eye of Richard (Dick) Brix, also a Northsider and owner of Brix Fine Foods.  They married in 1940 and had three children, Thomas (Tom), Cheri, and Richard (Dickie).  She and Dick were married 57 years.  Martha was President of the St Thomas Academy Mother’s Club and the Golden Valley Women’s Club.  She loved to swim, boat, play tennis and bridge, and family vacations to Vail. While everyone else skied, she visited all the shops and lunched on the deck at Alpenrose.  Most of all she loved being with her family, Sunday night Scrabble, and “Death by Chocolate”.

Please, God, take good care of her until we see her again ❤
