Payne, Marlyce Nelson
Born 05/30/36 and passed on 4/9/24 at the age of 87. Preceded in death by her parents, G. Emil and Selma Nelson, her son, James Edward Payne, and her beloved husband of 61 years, Edward James Payne.
Marlyce grew up on a small-town farm in Northern Minnesota (Clearbrook) and always regarded that as a wonderful upbringing by her loving parents. She loved to garden and get her hands dirty in the soil. She was an avid quilter bestowing her gifts on more people/places that we could possibly know. Since 1983, she served the church as a leader in creating/completing/donating quilts to cancer/hospice/NICU patients at North Memorial Hospital, Lutheran World Relief, and Lutheran Social Service (LSS). She donated her gifts and talents to benefit those who needed comfort through fabric and stiches. Since her husband’s passing, she became an active member and facilitator of the West Suburban Grief Coalition. She married her sole companion, Edward, in 1957 and had three children whom she loved and adored. She was a very active mom in their education and upbringing and supported them in all their endeavors. Her greatest joys were being a wife, mother, grandmother, caretaker, and a faithful servant to her Lord and her church.
Marlyce is survived by daughters Melanie Payne and Leslie Green, and daughter-in-law Robbie Payne; grandchildren Tyler (Kelly), Brian and Stephen Payne, Samuel Kjellberg (Nellie Morely), Kelsey Walz (Noah), Jacob Kjellberg and Brenna Kjellberg; great grandson, Felix Edward Walz; sister Bernice Parta, brother Bernard Nelson (Andi); cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, 4/19/24, at 11:00 AM at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, 15600 Old Rockford Rd., Plymouth, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the celebration and luncheon will follow.
