Marian G. Carlson

Marian (Lindholm) Carlson went to her heavenly home on October 9, 2021 at the age of nearly 95 years old. She was born on October 20, 1926 to Hilma and Albert Lindholm of Kittson County, Minnesota. She was one of seven children. She graduated high school from Crookston Normal School. She continued her education at Moorhead State Teacher’s College where she received her two-year teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Lancaster, Minnesota. Later, she graduated from St. Cloud State University to complete her education degree. She was dedicated to her profession and very dedicated to her students.

Marian met her husband, Harvey, at a barn dance and they were married in 1952. They made their first home in Chicago, and later moved back to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota with their four children. While raising her young family, Marian enjoyed helping with the boy and girl scouts, teaching Sunday school, and sewing dresses for her daughters. Harvey died in a tragic car accident on October 5, 1974.

Marian retired from Sacred Heart Parochial School in Robbinsdale. In her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Marian was an avid reader and enjoyed various needlework projects.  She was well-known by her family for her doilies and embroidered towels.  She contributed to her community by volunteering at a church daycare.  Marian was never too busy to help family.

Marian was an active member at Grace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, her daughter, Tammie, her daughter-in-law, Yvonne, and her siblings, Gordie, Grant, Jay, Violet, and Delrene. She is survived by her son, Greg Carlson, daughters Jolane (Dennis) Guthrie and Twyla McDowall, her 13 grandchildren, her 10 great-grandchildren, her sister, Martha Nelson, and her sister-in-law, Mary Carlson.

The memorial service will held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2 PM, at Gearty Delmore Funeral Home in Robbinsdale with visitation one hour prior. Interment is at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with her beloved Harvey and Tammie.

In memory of Marian, memorial funds will be donated to the Kindred at Home Foundation.
