Margaret A. Lavelle

Margaret was born on August 4th, 1967 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN to Richard and Eileen Lampert.  She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 10th, 2017.

Margaret lived in Robbinsdale, MN until moving to Plymouth with her family in 1977.  She graduated from Wayzata High School in 1985. On October 4th, 1997 she married Richard Lavelle.  They had two children, Aislinn (stillborn) and Alyssa. Margaret’s children from her first marriage (Tim) are Kaitlin and Meghan Brandon.

Margaret had many passions: her daughters, photography, scrapbooking, the beach, boundary waters, walking/hiking, camping, helping others, pets, music, the color purple, and riding the Harley with her husband, Rick.

She worked at Donaldson Company as a credit manager and loved her job, the company, and the people she worked with.  Her friends at Donaldson were a large part of the support network throughout her illness.

In October of 2015 Margaret was diagnosed with the devastating disease of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s). The doctors at Mayo in Rochester stated her onset date was likely June of 2014 when her symptoms first began.  They estimated she would have 3-5 years to live.  This amazing woman fought her hardest to make it as long as she could for her husband and her girls.  She did not complain and had the most amazing attitude.  She took one day at a time.  She smiled and laughed, and Rick constantly joked with her to keep her spirits up; they were an incredible team together.  Rick lovingly cared for her 24/7 along with the help of Terri, a close friend, and the amazing team at Fairview Hospice, especially her nurse, Ruth.

Margaret is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Lavelle; daughters, Kaitlin (Ryan) Bringgold, Meghan Brandon, and Alyssa Lavelle (Tom Drayton); mother, Eileen Cavanagh; brothers, David Lampert, Philip (Karen) Lampert; Uncle, Leroy Hagel and cousins.  Brother-in-law; Raymond Lavelle; Sisters-in-law, Deb (Dan) Smith, Denise (Ed) Quade.

Preceded in death by father, Richard Lampert; sister, Annette Lampert; infant daughter, Aislinn Lavelle.
