Golden Valley,
Loretta Esther Moen, age 89, died on October 3, 2021. Born Loretta Brown on October 20, 1931, in Fargo, ND. Lorrie always had a fondness for her hometown and her alma mater, NDSU. She enjoyed her three years of teaching English before becoming a great mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, co-worker, and friend. She was a long-time resident of 40 th Lane in St. Louis Park, MN. In her second career, she applied her teaching skills in Community Education and finally in volunteering with English Language Learners.
Lorrie loved music and knew every song. She loved language and hunting for spelling and grammatical errors like a bird-watcher hunts for rare birds. A skilled writer, the column she wrote called “View from the Pew,” was thought-provoking and entertaining to her church communities. Her curious mind kept her engaged over her entire life. Interesting conversations with anyone - from children to adults - were her specialty.
She is survived by her daughter Jean Ann (Richard) Buller, son Eric (Hsu-hui Wang) Moen, Grandsons Peter (Ruth) Buller, Martin (Olivia) Buller, Eric Moen Jr., and great-grandson Oliver Buller. Special thanks to the caregivers at Park Nicollet Hospice and St. Therese New Hope, with Emily Lesser, being a special Bison Physical Therapist .
Her life will be celebrated on November 7, 2021, at 4pm at Valley Community Presbyterian Church at 3100 Lilac Dr N Golden Valley, MN. Face masks will be required, and the service will also be live streamed from the church website: valleychurch.net . Memorial gifts may be sent to Valley Church and will benefit the local Meals on Wheels.
