Lois I. (Michael) Troemel

Lois Irene Michael Troemel, age 88 of Bloomington, formerly of Plymouth died at home on April 21, 2023 of heart failure.

Lois was born on June 18, 1934 in Great Falls, Montana to Rev. Gerhard and Augusta Michael. She lived in Power, Montana until 1941 when the family moved to Hankinson, North Dakota. Lois graduated from Hankinson High School in 1952 and then attended Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri from 1952-1955. She moved to Minnesota in 1955, working at the University of Minnesota hospital 1955-1959, while also earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Administration with High Distinction from the University of Minnesota in 1959. From 1960-1964 she was the Assistant Executive Director of the Minnesota Nurses Association, and later worked as a nurse at Park Nicollet ~1983-2002. She married Robert Troemel in June 1962, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage until he died November 2022.

She is survived by her children, Michael Troemel, Katherine (Eric) Ormson, Sarah Troemel, Emily Troemel; grandchildren, John (Rachel) Ormson, Madison Ormson, Christian Ormson; her sister, Margaret Rivers, her brothers, Gerhard Michael, Mark Michael, Joel Michael; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elaine Ruff.

A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, 15600 Old Rockford Road, Plymouth.

Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials are preferred to St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, Bread for the World or the charity of the donor's choice.
