Linda L Oelfke, age 72 of Brooklyn Center passed away on May 14th at Methodist Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 30th, 1949 in Minneapolis MN to Art & Donna McGregor. She graduated from South HS in 1967 and from the U of Minnesota in 1971 with a degree in elementary education. Linda married her husband, Rick, the following summer and accompanied him to several locations during his 6 year Air Force career. They then settled in Brooklyn Center where Linda was a stay-at-home mom for her 4 children and a part-time bookkeeper for her family’s roofing business.
Linda was very active in her church’s education program by teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for over 30 years. After her children completed school, Linda became the Office Manager of her family’s business. She also assisted Amy with her in-home daycare and was known to numerous children as Grandma Linda. Linda enjoyed reading, estate sales, crafts, collecting unusual things, and was very skilled in counted Cross-Stitch.
She is survived by her husband Richard of 50 years; her children: Amy (Joe) Herbst, Paul (Lacey) Oelfke, Mike (Lauren) Oelfke, and Erik (Kelly) Oelfke; her 13 grandchildren: Samantha Zolnosky, Josh (Missy) Herbst, Julia (Quinton) Hooker, Alex Zolnosky, Matilda Oelfke, Beckett Oelfke, Alexis Oelfke, Carter (Allie) Oelfke, Mikey Oelfke, McKinley Oelfke, Tyler Oelfke, Kaylee Oelfke, and Addy Wicka; and her great grandson Ezran Hooker. She is also survived by her brother David (Patti) McGregor, sisters Sharon (Chuck) Nelson and Sheila Assad, her brother-in-law Nick Kovich as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Laura Kovich and her brother Steven McGregor.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 31st from 4-8pm at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Home in Robbinsdale. The funeral will be held on Wednesday June 1st at The Lutheran Church of the Triune God in Brooklyn Center, with visitation at 10am,service at 11am with lunch following.
