LeRoy M. Bachmeier, 73, of New Hope, Minnesota, passed away on July 17, 2024, at his home.
LeRoy was born on May 31, 1951, in Minot, North Dakota, to Theresa Bachmeier and attended grade school and high school in Flaxton, ND. He earned an associate’s degree in accounting from the Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. With that education, LeRoy dedicated 53 years to the agricultural industry. He began his career in 1971, at the Prosper Farmers Elevator in Prosper, ND. In 1978, he moved his family to Aberdeen, South Dakota, where he worked as an auditor for Benson Quinn Grain Company. In 1980, LeRoy and his family moved to Plymouth, MN, where he worked as a grain merchandiser and traded grain at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange. He later joined Mid-States Computer Systems in 1988, where he remained until his passing.
LeRoy married his loving wife, Karen, on November 8, 1969, in Flaxton, ND, and the couple shared 54 years of marriage. They welcomed two sons: Travis in 1970 and Ryan in 1982. LeRoy and Karen settled in New Hope, MN, in 1983 where they raised their family.
LeRoy had a profound love for his family, friends and everyone who came into his life. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, demonstrating his selfless nature. His love for his wife was steadfast; his smile never faded when they were on the dance floor together. In addition to being a devoted husband, LeRoy was also a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a constant encouraging presence on the sidelines at sporting events and activities, cheering for his sons and supporting them in every way possible. He extended that same enthusiasm and support to his grandchildren as they grew.
LeRoy is survived by his spouse, Karen (Pedersen) Bachmeier; his sons, Travis and Ryan (Amber) Bachmeier; his grandchildren, Blake, Anna, Rooney, Adley and Millie Bachmeier; siblings, Deby (Conrad) Ellis, Mona (Monty) Lawson, Karla Jones, Walter Jones, Roger Jones and Bill Jones; numerous other family members, as well as his friends that he would consider like family. He was preceded in death by his mother Theresa Jones and stepdad, Eugene Jones; brother Mark Jones; grandparents Peter and Christine Bachmeier and in-laws Ivan and Pauline Pedersen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in LeRoy’s name to the Minnesota Stroke Association (www.strokemn.org) or the American Stroke Association (www.stroke.org).
