Feriancek, Leonard – 87, of Plymouth, MN, died peacefully on May 28, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Len was born in Blackduck, MN on January 14, 1930 to Michael and Anna (Evan) Feriancek who immigrated to Minnesota from Czechoslovakia. He graduated from Blackduck High School in 1948.
Len loved all sports, especially baseball, where he played for the Minneapolis Teamsters and won the Class A Title in 1956. He then went on to play 4 seasons in the Minor Leagues, 2 of which were interrupted for military service.
Len married Corinne “Connie” Drone on September 28, 1957 and they were blessed with 49 years of marriage before Connie’s death in 2007. Together, they raised a family in Brooklyn Park, MN and enjoyed summers and weekends at the cabin with Len’s brother Bill and family. Len worked in the dairy business as Sales Manager at Old Home Foods and Oak Grove Dairy. He had an easy-going way about him that served him well in both his work and throughout his life.
Like all athletes, Len found a new sport to fall in love with – the game of golf! He was a proud member of Golden Valley Country Club and continued to enjoy the sport in Surprise, AZ where he and Connie retired for a number of years before her death. At that time, Len moved back to MN to be closer to family.
Len was preceded in death by his wife Connie, parents, and nine siblings: Michael, John, Donald, Andrew, Paul, Matthew, Edward, Ann (Musburger) and Frank.
Survivors include Len’s children: Debbie (Tom) Lentz (Tulalip, WA), Mark (Jill) Feriancek (Maple Grove, MN), Cheryl (George) Paterson (Plymouth, MN), Karen (Kyle) Ness (Duluth, MN), 11 grandchildren: Rich, Bethany, Becca, Tori, Derek, Nicole, Jessica, Brian, Luke, Abbey, Andy; 1 brother: Bill, and many relatives and friends.
Len’s sense of humor and warm smile will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
