Larry Dean Schraut

After a long battle with multiple medical conditions, Larry Dean Schraut age 76, of Andover, MN passed away on November 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN.

Larry was born to Aloysious and Violet (Bellamy) Schraut on September 4, 1946, in Little Falls, MN. After graduating from Spring Lake Park High School in 1964, Larry married his high school sweetheart Beverly Waldoch in 1966 and together they raised four children. They were married for 42 years until her sudden passing in 2008.

Family was very important to Larry. He always made time for his children and spent many years coaching Little League. Larry’s commitment to family naturally extended to the activities and sporting events of his three grandchildren. He was always their biggest fan and supporter. Regardless of the situation, score, or what the referee may or may not have seen, he was always proud of them.

In 2015, Larry reluctantly went on a coffee date with friends and met the second love of his life Renee Press. Renee brought the light back into his life and helped heal his heart. They enjoyed watching movies, dining out, traveling, casino trips, and spending time with family and friends.

Larry had a passion for Minnesota sports teams along with a love of old westerns like Gunsmoke. In his final days, Larry watched the western channel incessantly. He knew the lines better than the original actors. These old shows highlighted the values that Larry stood for; family, loyalty, hard work, justice and protecting the less fortunate. Today’s troubled world could use more men like Larry.

He spent his entire career as an electrician with Electric Resource Contractors (ERC) and made many friends during the time he worked there. Larry was a hard-working, dedicated employee and proud member of IBEW Local Union 292.

A friend to many, Larry was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. A kind-hearted man, he took many hurt and abandoned animals into his home. Larry’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His generosity and good nature will not be forgotten.

Preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife Bev. Larry is survived by his loving partner Renee Press; children Jill (Bryan) Olson, Jon, Jason, and Joni; grandchildren Jake Olson, Maddie Olson, and Marisa Barker; sisters Judy Schraut and Debbie (Doug) Craine; sisters-in-law Toni (Terry) Geisler and Patty (Joe) Flor; brother-in-law Wayne Waldoch; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am on Friday, March 24th at Epiphany Catholic Church, 11001 Hanson Blvd NW in Coon Rapids, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am with a luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
