Kerry Kay Gabrelcik

Kerry Kay Gabrelcik, 70, of Crystal, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Kerry was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of so many with her kindness, humor, and unwavering love for family traditions.

Born in 1954, Kerry joined the Army Reserves in 1973, then went for schooling from 1974-1975 before starting her career with the city of Minneapolis. She dedicated 30 years of her life working in accounting for the City of Minneapolis Street Sanitation Department before retiring.

Kerry liked to road trip and always wanted to take the road less traveled so she wouldn’t miss something unique or something that would be a great picture opportunity. She loved having all kinds of pictures taken; funny ones, serious ones, you name it (but only if she knew you were taking a picture). She was the heart of her family, ensuring cherished traditions lived on, including the fall picnic, visiting the Crow Wing County Fair, the spring fish fry in Bemidji, and an annual week at the resort.

She had a calming presence, always ready to listen, and was a devoted friend to many. She also bartended at the St. Michael Legion, where she formed lasting friendships. Kerry had a love for crafts, family events, and hunting for bargains, always saving things just in case someone might need them. She carried a wonderful sense of humor; when asked one day by her friend Chris how they ever survived the places they went and the people there, Kerry said “God always protects children and fools” and Chris asked “Which one are we?” Kerry said, “A little of both.”

Kerry is survived by her husband, Gary Gabrelcik; her sons, Nick Gabrelcik and Tony Gabrelcik; her stepfather, Robert Billman; her sisters, Becky Hummel and Lori Thramer; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen Viehauser and Irene Billman; her siblings, Vicky Johnson, Lonnie Viehauser, and Robert Billman Jr.

She was truly one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed.

Memorial Service will be 2 PM Saturday, February 22 at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W. Broadway, with visitation 2 hours prior to the service.
