Kenneth "Ken" J. Ploof

Kenneth Jerome Ploof was born to John and Ann Ploof in Bird Island, Minnesota.  He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bird Island.   Ken met the love of his life, Dorene (Dorrie) Sanger, in first grade and married her on September 17, 1960.   They were blessed with four daughters: Kim, Lisa, Kathy and Kris.

Ken attended the University of Minnesota and worked his entire career in the printing industry and retired in 2006.

Ken was an avid bowler, golfer (which included bowling a 300 game, and making a hole in one) and was a true sports enthusiast.  He loved wood working and made many treasured keepsakes for his kids and grandkids.  Ken also loved to travel, hitting all the 50 states and many different countries throughout the world.

Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorrie; Kim (Bryce) Grundahl of Hutchinson; Lisa (Dave) Dyer of Plymouth; Kathy (Greg) Haas of Zimmerman; Kris (Chad) Hellwig of Maple Grove; and his dog Lucy of St. Louis Park; nine grandchildren, Amy and Alex Grundahl, McKenna and Carley Dyer, Merissa and Sam Haas; Grace, Anna and Taylor Hellwig; his sisters, Eileen (Arlyn) Janke, Lois (Stewart) Holt, Patricia Ploof; and many nieces and nephews, and lots of dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; sisters LaVonne, Joan, Germaine; brothers Jack and Robert; and many sisters/brothers-in-law.

Ken shared his faith in God with all of those around him, and his family and friends easily felt the love he had for them.  He taught us all so much as he lived, and even as he died.   We all will miss him.  We will hold him close in our hearts and treasure the memories.
