Keith F. Sherer, of Coon Rapids, MN passed away to our Heavenly Father at Sunrise of Minnetonka with family at his side January 9, 2025.
Keith was a laid back, hardworking, witty father, grandfather & great-grandfather. He is survived by his 4 children and spouses, Keith Sherer Jr. (Carlyn), Katherine Sherer (Deb Sinness), David Sherer, and Jay Sherer (Lorrie); 9 grandchildren, Marc Sherer, Lisa Sherer, Patrick Sherer, Brooke Livingston, Nicklas Sherer, Tricia Sherer, Nyobi Bale, Meghan Sherer, Bobbie Dee Myhre and their spouses; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, son Patrick, his parents Harry and Ruth, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Keith graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Honeywell as a tool maker. He started Northwestern Tool & Die in St. Paul with two partners, which was later sold. Work was his life and in 1991, he founded Minnesota Tool & Die Works, Inc. with his son Patrick. He worked at Minnesota Tool & Die until the age of 92 when his health declined.
Keith was an avid curler at the St. Paul Curling Club. In 1990, he was a Senior National Champion. Keith was an avid golfer and loved to play pool, cards, and Sudoku.
Keith was lucky to find two great loves in his life. The last 10 years, he enjoyed the company of Jeanne Schneider. They moved into assisted living together in April 2024. He was loved and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. A special thank you to Sunrise of Minnetonka and the Allina hospice team for making his last days comfortable. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic and Gospel Mission.
