Kay Inez Peterson, age 81, went peacefully to her eternal rest on May 19, 2020. All who were touched by her warmth, love and bright spirit will miss her dearly.
Born March 10, 1939 to Ferdinand and Orella Peterson of Siren, Wisconsin. After High School, she attended Hamline University. She worked briefly for the Star Tribune before devoting herself entirely to her beloved husband and family. She met the love of her life, Donald Richard Peterson, during these years. They were joined in marriage on April 15, 1961.
Kay is survived by two children; Michael Peterson [Danielle Cezanne] and Susan (Peterson) Steadman [Michael], and beloved granddaughters; Arielle Peterson, Alexandra [fiancé Thomas Schissler Jr.], Julia, and Maria Steadman, Emmalee (Steadman) Vazza [Michael].
Everyone who met Kay was quickly drawn to her bright, spunky personality. She was warm, witty, had a contagious laugh and was always stylish. Kay and her husband, Don were inseparable. Their love and complete devotion to one another was an inspiration. They thoroughly enjoyed their time together and laughed a lot. They loved to spend time with family and friends at their cabin, traveling to Florida and shared many adventures. Kay was an avid tennis player and enjoyed many years of charitable service with the Peanuts Chapter of Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, and her bowling league, from which she gained many life-long devoted friends. Her friends were like family to her. Kay had a deep love for her children and granddaughters. Her “girls” meant the world to her. We fondly remember her phone chats, outings, lunches, lake swims, shopping trips and her “bag of games” (G’ma LOVED cards)!
We are deeply grateful to her extended family and friends who made valiant efforts to visit and keep her connected. We give thanks for her caregivers and nurses who endearingly nick-named her, “Classy Kay”. Her days in memory care were difficult after losing her husband. Her closest caregivers spent many hours reminiscing with her, consoling her and helping her fix her hair and nails in true “stylish Kay” fashion. In Kay’s last days, we were blessed by a selfless hospice nurse who went above and beyond to keep her family connected and close to her. She was finally at peace as she felt us with her at her side.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord!
