Judy Darlene Cherrey
Judith Darlene Cherrey, nee Ostryzniuk, aged 67 of Minnetrista, MN passed away on July 14, 2021. Born December 13, 1953 in Virden, Manitoba. Survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Don; son, Mark (Breanna) and daughter Amanda (Will); grandchildren, Clara and Anders Cherrey; mother Rosie Ostryzniuk; sister Diane (Emile) Robert and brother Ken (Diane) Ostryzniuk. Judy was a beloved sister-in-law and auntie to the extended Cherrey family. She was predeceased by her father Paul Ostryzniuk and her grandmother, Annie Skrypetz.
Judy grew up in Beausejour, Manitoba and attended school there. Judy was extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage and loved to tell stories of her upbringing with her many cousins, aunts and uncles. She worked for the Bank of Montreal until she became a full-time stay at home mom. Judy lived in Winnipeg until 1980, then in Calgary until 1990 before moving to Minnesota, living in Plymouth and Minnetrista. She made life long friends wherever she went.
Judy was a member of the Medina Golf & Country Club in Minnesota and the Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Palm Springs, California. She was also a devoted hockey mom and enjoyed knitting, book club and bowling. Judy’s biggest joy in life was being “Baba” to her grandchildren.
Celebration of life service at 11 AM on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 7401 County Road 101, Maple Grove, MN. A livestream of the service will be available at www.lordoflife.org/celebrationoflife during the service and for 60 days after. A luncheon will be held at the Rush Creek Golf Course clubhouse immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Judy’s memory to the Park Nicollet Foundation in support of the Frauenshuh Cancer Center.
