Joseph "Joe" M. Wallek

Joseph (Joe) M. Wallek, age 67 of Maple Grove, died on October 18, 2022 at home, with his loved ones by his side, after a year long battle with Pancreatic cancer.

He was born March 12, 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Juliana and Frank Wallek.  He graduated from Grace High School in 1973 and went on to Hamline University where he graduated in 1977 with a degree in Criminal Justice.  Joe went on to work for Moore Data for the majority of his career. Joe loved to work and had a strong work ethic, he was genuinely nice to everyone and because of this he made many of his lifelong friends through his work. Joe retired in 2020 and spent his retirement under the supervision of his grandkids, which he enjoyed more than any other job.

Joe married Therese Swan on August 22, 1980.  Joe and Therese had known each other since childhood and went on to create a beautiful life together.  They were blessed with two children: Sarah and Erin.  Their greatest family adventure was moving to Tennessee together for five years before returning to be with family in Minnesota. Joe spent much of the girls' childhood coaching them in soccer and basketball. Whether he was coaching them or not, he was always their number one fan!

Joe will especially be remembered for his whistling, his love of cardinals, cheering on the Yankees, organizing a Survivor board for his friends and family, and the fact that he always had treats for his grandkids. The one thing Joe enjoyed most in the world was his family… and having a clean car.

Joe is survived by loving wife of 42 years, Therese Wallek; daughters, Sarah (Andy) Brackemyer and Erin (Dereck) Richter. Four grandchildren that lit up his world, Griffin, Landon, Addie, and Lucy.  Twin sister, Joyce (Steve) Manske;  brother, Mark Wallek, and sister, Lisa (Rob) Christenson, as well as the entire Swan family, many nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, Juliana (Freche) and Frank Wallek; in-laws, Cletus and Bernadette Swan; brothers-in-law, Dennis Swan and Bert Rogers.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park. Inurnment Gethsemane Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Memorial are preferred to a charity of your choice.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 9100 93rd Avenue North, Brooklyn Park.  Interment Gethsemane Cemetery.

Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church on the day of the service.
