Jon Elwood Eggenberger, 67, passed away February 9 at his home in Montgomery, TX after a short battle with cancer.
Jon was born November 28, 1952, in Lake City, MN to Virgil and Elizabeth Eggenberger. He attended Boca Raton High School in FL and was drafted to the Army in 1972 while attending the University of South Florida. In 1977, he completed his degree in business at St. Cloud State University in MN.
Jon had a passion for sports, traveling, and being with his family. He loved to play card games, golf, go to concerts, and truly found joy in making people happy. If you knew Jon you’d know that he could find optimism and positive light in anything, even another Vikings heartbreak. He had an abnormal talent of memorizing numbers and could divide large numbers in under 3 seconds. He will always be remembered for his bad “dad” jokes and his ability to make people laugh.
He is survived by his former wife, Jodi Eggenberger and their loving children Jenna (Scott) Rogers, Jonathan Eggenberger (Vicki Lance), and Jill (Taylor) Sinjem, his grandchildren Oliver and Maven Rogers, his brothers Jay (Lisa) Eggenberger and Jan (Terry) Eggenberger, and dear friend and companion Sandy Turner.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Elizabeth Eggenberger and his grandson Noah Rogers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 24. Visitation at 2:30pm with a brief service at 3:30pm at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave N., followed by a gathering of family and friends at Grizzly’s Wood-Fired Grill in Plymouth, MN.
