John died at home on Thursday, August 16, 2018 with his wife at his side after a brief battle with cancer.
Preceded in death by father, Leo; godfather, Jeff Herrity.
Survived by wife, Heather; children, Gabriel (18), Evelyn (14) and Hera (8); mother, Barbara Kemper; brother, Joseph Kemper; mother and father-in-law, Ellen and Dick Abel; brother-in-law, Kevin (Kristin) Abel; various cousins and friends.
John grew up in Anoka, MN and attended Totino-Grace High School. He went on to graduate from the U of MN with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and statistics and later earned a CFA designation. John and Heather met in 1992 and married in 1997. He worked at Wells Fargo for 13 years and was recently in the treasury department at US Bank. John was very involved with youth services at Hennepin Ave Methodist Church. He enjoyed the local music scene, camping, tennis and spending time with family, friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to donor’s choice or HAUMC youth programs. A
