John T. "Jack" Kelly MD Age 90 formerly of Robbinsdale and Delano; passed away May 10, 2017. Jack graduated from Cretin High School and after a stint in the US Air Corps he enrolled at the University of Minnesota. He later entered U of M Medical School and graduated in 1956. He was a family physician and co-founder at Northeast Medical Clinic in Minneapolis and chief of staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. In 1968 he returned to the U of M for a residency in Psychiatry and joined the Dept. of Family Medicine, and eventually became the associate head of the department until his retirement in 1996. His passion for nature and agriculture led him to found Apple Jack Orchards with his family in 1983. He had a deep love for books and also his Irish heritage. He made a huge impact on our lives as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survived by wife Leah Kelly (Labeck); daughter Kit Dekarski (Mike); grandchildren Katie Lamecker (Nick) and John Dekarski; great grandchildren Joey and Anna Lamecker; nephew Jim (Renee Larson) Hansen; niece Barb Fabian (John) ; brother-in-law Bill Hansen; 4 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Patricia Kelly; parents Francis and Anastasia Johnson Kelly and sisters, Joan and Jean.
Visitation also 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Private interment. Memorials preferred to the Minnesota Medical Foundation or to Cross Catholic Outreach. Our family thanks all of the staff at Sursum Corda, Gianna Homes, for their loving and compassionate care for Jack and his family.
