John "Jack" Peter Lysfjord

Lysfjord, John Peter Jack” age 77 of Minnetonka, MN

Beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa & Friend died peacefully on March 14, 2024. He was proceeded in death by wife of 49 years, Pat, parents John Lysfjord & Sara Lysfjord/Jackson, brother Tom Lysfjord, and parents-in-law Don & Juel Kelley.

He is survived by daughters, Kari Lysfjord (John Murdoch) and Molly (Eric) Kurzweg; granddaughters, Ellie and Lauren Kurzweg.

We would especially like to thank Abbott Northwestern Heart Hospital and its LVAD heart failure team, in particular Dr. Peter Eckman, for giving us extra years. Also, his home care and in-home caregivers Bintu, Princess, Frances, Nadia, Bendu, Asana, and Divine who took care of him as if he was their own. Last, his many close friends who were there for his journey.

Jack was born on July 14, 1946, in Robbinsdale, MN. After graduating from Robbinsdale HS in 1964, he earned his degree from the University of Minnesota in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering and then his MBA from the University of St. Thomas. That set the groundwork for his time spent working for Dahlberg Electronics, Onan Corp., Litton Industries, Medtronic, and lastly, TL Systems/Bosch Pharmaceutical Packaging (26 years) before deciding to create Lysfjord Consulting and finally, retirement. The majority of Jack’s work was spent advancing aseptic processing equipment for injectable drugs. He was an active member of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), the American Glove Box Society (AGS), The Parenteral Drug Association (UK), The Isolator Users Group (UK), R3 Nordic (Nordic Clean Room Processing Society), and Barrier Users Group Symposium (BUGS) as the Chairman. He was a proud course leader, speaker, and author of aseptic processing, RABS (Restricted Access Barrier Systems) and barrier isolator systems in the US, Europe, and Asia. He believed everyone was or would be a patient at some point and helping influence governments, regulators, pharmaceutical and related industries to produce better, safer, more cost effective products for patients would help them lead a full, productive life.

As a curious personality and student of life, Jack had many hobbies and interests. Through these came lifelong friendships, mentors, and too many memories to list. He loved hobby shops, airplanes, trains, wood working, stained glass, skiing, wine making, collecting/fixing classic cars, singing in the Church choir, fishing, and exploring the world. Traveling was his true life passion. Sharing that with his family through numerous vacations and seeing the joy it brought them was all he needed. Decades of annual expeditions with the “Paradise Fishermen” was never missed.
