John "Jack" Almquist passed away peacefully on November 7 th , 2021 at the age of 84. He was born to Ila and Oscar Almquist July 15 th , 1937 in Eveleth, Minnesota. He grew up in Roseau and had many fond memories of playing hockey and making lifelong friends. He attended the University of Minnesota, enlisted in the Army, and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. John was a CPA and partnered with Graves, McKenna, Lundeen and Almquist. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church where he ushered for many years. John also spent many years volunteering with Hobey Baker, the Decathlon Club, and the Optimist Club. He was an avid hockey fan, and continued to play hockey well into his 70s. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son Eric. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jan; his children, Luci (Bill) Lankford, Traci (Mark) Hedstrom, Tom (Candy), and Steve Almquist; and daughter-in-law, Paula (Eric, desc.). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nick, Austin (Elizabeth) and Hunter Lankford; Andrew, Hillary, and Eva Hedstrom; Sarah and Ben Almquist; and Caroline Almquist. A private family service has been held. He will be buried at Fort Snelling at a later date.
