Joanne, 89, whose kind and gentle nature, was apparent to everyone she met, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on October 21, 2020. Joanne will be remembered for her faith and her caring devotion to family and friends. She was always there, always available, always ready to help. Joanne was an avid reader, loved knitting, playing 500, entertaining and traveling. Her favorite place, the family cabin in Longville, MN, was where she gathered with family and friends to share meals and enjoy the outdoors by taking long boat rides and walks.
Born in Fond du lac, Wisconsin on April 28, 1931 she was the oldest of four followed by Jim, Judith, Jean. She graduated from nursing school in 1953. On July 31, 1954, she married the love of her life, Lawrence (Hank) Gosz. Together they lovingly raised four children: Michael, Kathryn, Kelly, Peter. The family spent many weekends camping or at the cabin in Waupaca, Wisconsin. Welcomed with open arms into the family were Nancy, Steve, Carol and Shelly. With a maiden name of Connell, she had pride in her heritage and loved everything Irish.
Joanne had many careers and worked until she was 85. She was a nurse, Lamaze coach, caregiver, want ad composer, weight loss counselor, receptionist and her favorite of all, ARC thrift store employee.
Katie, Anna, Matthew, Jon, Brian, Patrick, Maria, Zoë and Dan, her beloved grandchildren, kept her busy enjoying sports, concerts, plays, golf, hiking, skiing, and more. She rarely missed an event. Great grandchildren; Noah, Elias, Louis, Zelie, Gemma Mae, Gabriel, Amelia, Evelyn, Ellis, Jack and Max melted her heart.
Gma, Jody mom, Jod, mother, Joanne, mom, regular grandma, Jody, granny will be forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
Survived by children, Mike (Nancy) Gosz, Kathryn Lampi, Kelly (Carol) Gosz, Peter (Shelly) Gosz; brother James (Donna) Connell; brother-in-law, Richard Earl; sister-in-law, Louise Pate; grandchildren Katie (David) Lampi Hermanson, Anna (Brian) Eberhardt, Matthew (Ashley) Lampi, Jon (Julie) Gosz, Brian Gosz (Samantha Garretto), Patrick Gosz (Alyssa Berscheid), Maria Gosz, Zoë Gosz, Dan (Amy) Mayer; great grandchildren, Noah, Elias, Louis, Zelie, Gemma Mae Eberhardt; Gabriel, Amelia Gosz; Evelyn Lampi; Ellis Hermanson; Jack, Max Mayer.
Due to COVID, a private family funeral mass will be at St. Alphonsus in Brooklyn Center on Wednesday, October 28 at 11 AM. Livestream will be available at facebook.com/St.AlphonsusMN/events .
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Alzheimer’s Association.
