BRAUN, JOANNE (Joan Emig),
age 85, of Brooklyn Park entered the eternal kingdom of God on July 17, 2016.
Joan and her loving husband of 65 years, Jerry, were founding members of St. Alphonsus Parish in 1959 and she was active in the women’s society and the senior choir. Upon moving to Maple Grove they were members of St. Thomas Church in Corcoran, where she was also employed as an administrative assistant. Joan and Jerry founded B-Craft Fundraising Products in 1968, and she served in an active capacity with her husband for 38 years, most notably as sales representative for Texas, which became the company’s largest market. Joan was regarded as a person who made friends easily because of her outgoing personality.
Survived by husband Jerome Braun; children Carol (Ed) Shukle, Barbara (Maris) Schilling, David (Diane), Mark (Kristin), Paul (Mary Freund-Braun), and Greg; grandchildren Kate (Austin) Nicholsen, Andy (Howard Closter), Emma and Monica Shukle; Amanda (Justin) Carlson, Nicole and Mariah Carlson; Dustin (Kristen) and Robert (Shannon) Braun; Andrea (Tim Kindem) Braun, Elizabeth (Christopher) Harstad, Kimberly (Darrell Johnston) Braun, Michelle and Matthew Braun; Hayden Braun; Christopher and Haley Braun; great-grandchildren Daphnie, Parker, Lawson, Kevin and Dustin Braun, and Howie Kindem; sister Judy (Bill) Cramer; brothers-in-law Dean (Doris) and Herbert (Kay) Braun; sisters-in-law Marian Ertl, Jeanette (Don) Mayers and Doris Peters, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents Edward and Frances (Noethen) Emig; brothers and sisters-in-law Irvin and Cletus Braun, Bill Peters and Marci and Edgar Veldre; nephews Jim Mayers, Michael Peters and Gerry Carlson; and niece Jennifer Ryan.
Memorials preferred to Joan’s favorite charity, Covenant House (services to homeless and runaway youth), or to the Redemptorist Fathers.
Visitation from 9:30 - 11 AM at the church on Thursday.
