Our mother had a way of making each person feel like they were special.  She made you laugh and brought music, dance, and joy to your life.  She was fun and funny!  She loved a party and each of you that came to sing at the piano or a swing on the dance floor with her.  She wore her high-heeled taps dancing through her early 60’s, and lap swam through her 70’s.  Her kind, sweet spirit touched all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Joan was a long-time Montessori teacher and a tireless hands-on philanthropist, helping too many to list.  During her tenure at the Junior League of Minneapolis, she and her fellow volunteers started The Minneapolis Children’s Theatre where she acted in one of the first productions as the Wicked Witch of the East in The Wizard of Oz.  They also birthed Catholic Charities’ Clothes Line enterprise in Minneapolis.  Her final project was working at Mary’s Place in Minneapolis literally washing the feet of the homeless.

To call her wife, mom, grammie/grandma/nanny, aunt, friend, teacher, colleague, is to be blessed.  We all will miss her beautiful voice and smile.  She will forever be loved and remembered by the way she lived her life.
