Jo Goodell-Holmes passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 22, 2021 at the age of 70. She is preceded in death by parents, Richard L. and Marilyn J. Goodell; brothers, David and Steven; and husband, Alan. Jo is survived by her son, Greg Holmes (Elsa), and her daughter, Charito Teegarden (Joshua); grandchildren, Anderson Holmes, Zoe Teegarden, Rhaenyra Teegarden; as well as several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Jo was born in Duluth, MN on October 18, 1951 and spent her childhood in Fairmont, MN. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1970, obtained her degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in 1974 and went on to work within the healthcare insurance industry. She married Alan in 1979 and they began raising their family in 1984.
Jo enjoyed playing flute, attending church, gardening, trips with Alan to visit friends across the country, riding her motorcycle as a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse, and late nights playing cribbage. Being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother and friend were among Jo’s greatest passions in life, and her family always came first. Always the listener and encourager, Jo found great enjoyment helping others achieve their goals and dreams in life.
A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, November 5 at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Home, 15800 37th Ave N in Plymouth, MN.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 6, at Wayzata Community Church, 125 Wayzata Blvd E in Wayzata, MN, beginning at 10am, followed by refreshments at the church. Committal service at Groveland Cemetery, 3300 Woodlawn Ave in Wayzata, MN.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the North Memorial Hospice Staff and North Memorial Cancer Center.
