Jean Dorothy (Wolff) Humphries passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024 surrounded by family. Jean (formerly of Plymouth) was born on February 6, 1951, in Canby Minnesota. As a young girl, she was active in the family business of a small confectionary store in Minneapolis. Jean was a brave little girl who would sneak candy and other sweets while her younger sister stood watch. In 1958, the family sold the business and moved to raise the children in the suburbs. Graduating from St. Louis Park High School in 1969, Jean pursued her true passion of helping others, by continuing her education at Mankato State University receiving her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1973, her Bachelor's of Nursing degree from Augsburg University in 1988, her Masters in Nursing from the University of Minnesota in 1993 and her PhD in Nursing from Wayne State University in 2017. Jean was committed to make a difference in her chosen field of study, completing her PhD on sleep research and leveraging her education and experience to inspire young nursing candidates as a practical and research-based educator at Mankato State University. Recognized as a true leader and educator in the nursing profession, she was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau, a prestigious global nursing excellence society. Jean's other love was the arts. She was a beautiful pianist and a major supporter of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra where she served as President and other committees including the annual gala and silent auction. She also loved the theater and always bought season tickets for the Guthrie and was a frequent patron of the Penumbra theater. With a busy life and schedule, she always found time for her family. Many family holidays or summer gatherings were hosted by Jean and Craig at their family cabin in Avon. This was a special place for Jean and Craig to spend time with family and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Craig Humphries MD, former husband Kevin Milner, her parents Raymond (Ray) & Dorothy Wolff, her brothers Robert (Bob), James (Jim) Gerald (Jerry) Wolff, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Jean is survived by her children Matthew (Kristin) Milner of Rogers, Julie (George) Hilbring of Chicago, and Adria (Shawn) Cheney of Monticello. Grandchildren Abby, Izzy, Layla, Marlee, Caroline and George. Sisters Connie (Dennis) Porras and Mary Kay (Ken) Hauer.
