Janet Zahn

On March 21, 2022, Janet “Jan” Zahn of St. Louis Park, MN, entered her heavenly home at the age of 80.

Jan was the youngest of 6 children born to Bill and Violet Johnson on September 14, 1941. Growing up, Jan spent her childhood with family, including her many nieces and nephews (many of whom she babysat).

Jan attended Central High School where she met Ken. They married in 1961 and later had three children - Jeff, Kristi & Kelly. Throughout their marriage they were dedicated to family ensuring to pass along traditions to both their children and grandchildren. As a family, they spent many years on Cedar Lake in Annandale at the cabin. Ken & Jan also spent a lot of time during their years together traveling. One of Jan’s favorite places to visit was the North Shore.

Jan worked at Finney Company where she spent her entire career, eventually becoming Vice-President. Her kids and many of their friends joined her at work helping to assemble chalkboard erasers. Jan then retired early to spend time with her grandchildren who were a great joy in her life.

Described by loved ones as one of the kindest people they knew and always there for you.  Jan made sure to stay connected to friends and family by meeting them for lunch, attending their life events or just checking in. An active member of Vista Lutheran Church, she made lifelong friends many of whom were like family.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Violet Johnson; siblings, Bill, June, Vivian and Lois; granddaughter, Brooke.

She is survived by husband, Ken; her three children, Jeff (Merrilee), Kristi (Rob) and Kelly (Chris); her six grandchildren, Kalie, Emily, Anna, Tyler, Nikki and Ally; brother, Allan.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Vista Lutheran Church, 4003 Wooddale Ave S, St. Louis Park, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
