James "Jim" Robert Nachtsheim

Nachtsheim, James (Jim) Robert

was born on February 18, 1948 to Edwin and Viola Nachtsheim of Crystal, MN. Jim was the youngest of three kids and joined siblings Jack and Nancy (Moore). Jim was always an active kid growing up, and continued his love of sports at Robbinsdale High School where he played on the baseball team, making it to the varsity team as a pitcher. After graduating with the RHS class of 1966, Jim completed his undergrad at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Jim began working for IDS/American Express Financial Advisors around 1970 and retired in 2005. Jim went back to school for his MBA in 1972 and graduated from the Carlson School of Business Management in 1975, going to school at night while working during the day. In 1978, Jim married Marie (Fursman) and they have been together for 46 years. Jim and Marie raised two daughters, Jenny and Amy. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed staying involved in sports (bowling, softball, and golf!), travel with his family, watching his favorite sports teams, and hanging out with the many family dogs over the years.

When Jim and Marie married, he joined a pretty large family that he loved very much. Seeing his two kids grow up, complete their education, find their way in life, and become the people they are today is one of his greatest achievements. Faith, family, friends, and Minnesota sports were things he held dear to him. Jim stayed close to many of his old coworkers and would meet with them regularly for breakfast. Jim also worked with some of his RHS classmates to ensure their Class of '66 stayed in touch. He continued to keep their class website updated with news and reunion announcements. In 2023, he helped organize a 57-year reunion, which was well attended.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marie; daughters Jenny (Anthony) Garcia and Amy (Ben Dunbar) Kim; and sister Nancy Moore. His first grandchild, Caleb James, is due November 2024. Jim was so looking forward to meeting him. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; brother Jack and his wife Marla; brother-in-law Gary Moore; and father and mother in law, Thomas and Marie Fursman. Jim also has many nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends who all feel his loss.
