Jim Fisher, 66, lifelong resident of Bloomington, MN, died in his home of natural causes on Monday, September 13, 2021.
James Edward Fisher Sr. was born in 1955, to William “Bill” Sr. and Merle “Punky” Fisher. Jim grew up in Bloomington, graduating from public school and excelling in sports. He played baseball in college and attended Liberty University and Wichita State. In 1992, he was married to Karre M. Proudfit. Jim's career was always in sales of some kind or another and he truly enjoyed his work. At the time of his passing, Jim was employed with Asset Marketing Services of Burnsville.
If you were to ask him, Jim would say that his greatest achievement was his son. He strove to be the best father he could be, never missing James Jr.'s games- home or away. In later years, when following his son's time in college football, Jim would take nearly every weekend off for 4-5 months of the year so he could travel and be wherever James was playing. There was never a gap in his role as “Dad.”
In more recent years, in addition to continuing to do the work he loved, Jim spent a great deal of time with his girlfriend, Pat, in Red Wing, MN. A place he considered to be his Mayberry.
Jim is survived by his son, James Fisher Jr.; mother, Punky Fisher; brother, Bill (Jen) Fisher Jr.; his girlfriend, Pat Valtakis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Fisher; and nephew, Paul Fisher.
Jim knew the Lord, and is resting peacefully in Heaven.
Graveside service and burial 10:30 AM Saturday, Sept. 25 th at Dawn Valley Memorial Park, 9940 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington.
