Jack Brian Errett of Plymouth, Minn., died on Oct. 5, 2023, after a prolonged illness. He was 75 years old.
Born Dec. 12, 1947 in Huron, S.D., Jack graduated from Huron High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
During his college years, Jack worked at the Huron Regional Airport. In 1968, before he had ever traveled on a commercial flight, he became a licensed private pilot.
Jack worked in sales and pharmacy design for McKesson Corp. until his retirement. Prior to McKesson, he was a district sales manager for Snyder Drug Stores. In retirement, Jack worked at Your Boat Club on Lake Minnetonka, caring for boats and assisting club members.
From childhood and throughout his life, Jack loved to play any sport involving a ball, including basketball, football, baseball, tennis and golf. He also ran track and was a swimmer. Jack’s favorite hobbies included pheasant hunting, fishing and boating.
He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, was commissioner of the Hopkins, Minn., Girls Slow-Pitch Softball League and served in various volunteer roles at his church.
Jack also loved to travel. A favorite destination was Kenya, where he had a special fondness for the elephants.
He is survived by his wife Paula Ellwein of Plymouth, Minn.; daughter Jennifer (Klint) Rybicki of Caddo Mills, Texas; sisters Sue Manolis of Irvine, Calif., and Lynn Seagrave of Indialantic, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and grandchildren Luke, Elenor and Henry Rybicki, Katie, Ellie and Lucy Wheeler, and Andrew and Marie Arndorfer.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Marcene Errett, wife Carolyn Errett and brother Douglas Errett.
A private memorial service was held. Remembrances may be made in the form of contributions supporting the Pheasants Forever conservation organization.
