Isadore “Ike” M. Robinson

Isadore “Ike” M. Robinson

Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two grandchildren.

Ike received a BS degree from Bluefield State College, W. VA and a MS degree in microbiology from Iowa State University.  He worked as a research scientist for the USDA in Beltsville, MD and at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames, IA, from which he retired in 1987.  He was a member of the International Organization of Mycoplasmology and published and presented many papers on his research, state side and internationally.  For his work, the Agricultural Research Service named a bacterial species in his honor: Robinsoniella peoriensis. Ike served as a Red Tail (Tuskegee Airman) during WWII.  For his service, he received a Congressional Gold Medal from President Bush in 2007. Ike was a member of the Board of Deacons and Lifetime Trustee of the First Baptist Church of Ames. He was also an avid fisherman and Iowa State Super Fan.

Ike was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, friend, and community leader.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilma, Golden Valley, MN; daughters, Jacqueline (Russell) Boozer, Savage, MD; Donna Johnson, Capital Heights, MD; Debbie Robinson, Paris, KY; Renee Robinson, St. Louis Park, MN; Phyllis (Ronald) Hawkins, Cincinnati, OH; Cindy (Danny) Robinson Gantt, Moreno Valley, CA; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; brother, Percy Robinson; many other relatives and friends.

Interment with full military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 2:00 pm, Minneapolis, MN.
