Remembering Bella: “Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.”
Isabella “Bella” Mae Conneran earned her angel wings on February 3, 2018 in her mother and father’s arms at the University of MN Masonic Children’s Hospital.
Bella exuded joy and was loved instantly by all who met her. She loved going on bike rides, swinging at the park, swimming in the pool, reading books, playing with her sister and all things Minnie Mouse and Elmo. She taught us so much about the depth of love, deepened our faith and gave us the gift of perspective on what really matters in life.
Bella was truly a miracle child who beat the odds by giving us almost 3 and a half years with her. She had a rare metabolic disease called CDG-FUT8 (Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation), a disease that was discovered because of her! Her doctors have called her a “trailblazer” and she is already helping other kids around the globe that didn’t have a diagnosis previously. Her legacy will no doubt live on because of this discovery and due to her remarkable story that has touched so many lives.
Although she suffered greatly due to the symptoms of CDG, Bella smiled through it all—a smile that would light up your day. It brings us peace to know she can be a full child in heaven—running, dancing, twirling and talking—the things we yearned for her to do on this earth.
Bella is survived by her parents, Matt and Heather Conneran, her sister, Brianna; maternal grandparents, Rick Mukomela and Gary and Marjorie Bertsch; paternal grandparents, Howard Conneran and Armin and Terry Pipho; great grandparents, Ken and Gwen Mukomela, Mariann Vandeputte, and Charles Sylvester; caretaker, Rachel Courtright; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and friends who loved her.
Feel free to wear purple, Bella's favorite color.
