St. Anthony, MN -
Hortulana “Lanie” Van Sloun, age 91 of St. Anthony Village, passed away on December 17 due to complications related to pneumonia.
Preceded in death by her dear husband of 61 years, Arthur; grandson Anthony Gilbertson; parents Jacob and Hortulana Goering; sisters Joey Lambertz and Charlotte Goering; brothers Cloud, David, and Charles Goering; and godmother Sr. Mary Eve Goering, OSF.
She is survived by her children Fr. Michael, Thomas (Joan), Ruth Ann (Bruce) Gilbertson, Janet Van Sloun, and Bev (Mick) Carlson; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; siblings James (Virginia) Goering, Cyrilla Brixius, Daniel (Cleo) Goering, Edward (Kay) Goering, Christella (Dennis) Korkowski and Rebecca (Wayne) Chouanard.
She was born in St. Cloud, MN and raised in Brandon. She was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Little Falls and the St. Cloud School of Cosmetology. She was totally dedicated to her family as a faithful wife and mother. She was a devout Catholic, she offered her prayers with a Blessed candle, faithfully said the rosary, and had great devotion to Sts. Francis of Assisi, Anthony of Padua and St. Maximillian Kolbe. She was a pro at chocolate cake, pies, and holiday feasts, and she was an avid gardener.
Interment Guardian Angels Cemetery, Chaska.
Memorials preferred to the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls.
